New rules in USTA 10 and Under Tennis will take effect on January 1st, 2012. Please find below a letter from the USTA Texas Section detailing the changes that will take place. Dear Parents of Junior Tennis Players,
As of January 1, 2012, USTA Texas will conform to the USTA National and the International Tennis Federation’s policy for 10 and Under Tennis. This will result in changes to the current junior tournament system. All of the changes and new rules can be found on the USTA Texas website.

• On the “Home/News” page, select “10 and Under new Texas rules for 2012”
For players aged 10 and under who are already competing in the current Texas 10’s and 12’s ZAT system, a transition will occur only one time as an objective mechanism to integrate the players into the new 10 and Under system.
• Players aged 10 & under who are either in the Championship or Super Championship Divisions on January 1, 2012 will retain their status and be eligible to compete in their qualified 12’s division.
• Players aged 10 and under who are competing in 12’s ZATs will be moved to the following divisions based on their ZAT point totals at the end of December 2011.
Eight or more 12’s ZAT points – eligible for 12’s ZATs, 10’s ZAT Green Ball Division or 10’s ZAT Orange Ball Division.
Seven or less 12’s ZAT points – eligible for 10’s ZAT Green Ball Division or 10’s ZAT Orange Ball Division.
Any players aged 10 ½ on January 1, 2012 may play 12’s ZATs or 10’s ZAT Green Ball Division.
• Any player competing in 10’s ZATs anytime prior to December 31, 2011 will be eligible for 10’s ZAT Green Ball Division or 10’s ZAT Orange Ball Division.
